Product Review: The Ordinary – Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

The Ordinary is the most popular product of the Deciem brand (The Abnormal Beauty Company). An affordable brand that relies on one proven active ingredient at an affordable price, without marketing gimmicks and flashy packaging that adds to the price of the product, has been gaining popularity lately. Below is our review of a serum with niacinamide 10% + zinc 1%.

What it is?
Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% is a high quality serum with vitamins and minerals to combat blemishes. The serum comes in a glass bottle with a pipette for dispensing the product. The packaging states that the serum is supposed to visibly (1) regulate sebum production and (2) minimise pores.

It is stated that: ‘The serum is suitable for daily use to be able to keep the skin in good condition: the serum has the ability to protect the skin and protect the skin: visibly regulates sebum production and minimises pores. Niacinamide reduces the appearance of imperfections and congestion. Zinc PCA balances the visible aspects of sebum activity.

Fragrance: No noticeable strong fragrances.

Texture and finish: Unflavoured: watery gel texture. Feels very light and absorbs well. If too much product is applied, a white residue will appear when rubbed off and skin will be slightly sticky.

Thoughts and Results:
I used the serum mainly at night (this is my personal preference as I don't like to apply a lot of product during the day) for 2-3 months. I usually used a total of four drops on my entire face. The serum is easy to apply, it glides smoothly on the skin and absorbs quickly. I use the serum after washing my face and then apply moisturiser.

The most noticeable difference I have seen with this product is more radiant skin. I have noticed some fading of hyperpigmentation, but nothing drastic, as well as a reduction in clogged pores.

Overall, for the low price of ~Rs.5990 rupees, I would recommend giving this serum a try. The company also has a good return policy if you don't like something.
